Ciganos results from an unprecedented photographic project. For three months, between 2010 and 2011, Rogério Ferrari traveled through 40 municipalities, recording the daily life and different living conditions of members of the Gypsy communities in Bahia.
The work arises from the coexistence and the photographer's intention to transcend a stylization, and thus express a broader point of view on the ancient culture and on the actuality of this people,_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b -136bad5cf58d_showing gypsy life as it is. The daily life of a people who, like others, are part of the history and formation of Brazilian society. The look revealed by Rogério Ferrari is that of cultural identity beyond stereotypes, maintained despite the persecutions suffered over the centuries.
